ChipApex’s Explanation on RoHS Compliance
RoHS Compliance
RoHS, a lead-free regulation officially known as “Directive 2002/95/EC on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment,” has been enforced across the European Union since 1st July 2006.
Its objective is straightforward: to eliminate a total of six hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), thereby contributing to the protection of human health and the preservation of the environment.
While RoHS is an EU Directive, manufacturers of EEE outside the European Union must also adhere to this regulation if their products are ultimately imported into any EU member state.
